What is a product?
A product is a catalog record you enrich in Avist — for example a tile SKU or a product model that groups variants (colour / finish / size).
Simple products vs product models
- Simple product — one identifier, one set of values.
-
Product model — parent that holds shared data; variants hold the
variant axis values (e.g. colour). In the grid they often show a
[MODEL]label. See What is a product model? for why and how to use them.
Stone 3 example
pasha_azurita can be a model under family Tiles, with variants
for finish and size. Shared marketing text lives on the model; size-specific data lives on
the variant product.
What every product has
- Identifier — stable code (SKU) used in imports, API, and media links.
- Family — which attributes appear and which are required.
- Values — data for each attribute (product values).
- Categories — where it sits in navigation trees.
- Completeness / quality — readiness for a channel + locale.
Depends on
- Family (template of attributes)
- Attributes (fields you fill)
- Channel & locale for scoped/localised values
