What is a product value?

A product value is the data stored for one attribute on one product — for example the text in Description, the option chosen for Finish, or the file uploaded as Main Image.

Value shapes

Global — same everywhere (e.g. Material = Porcelain).
Value per locale — different per locale (e.g. Product Name in English).
Value per channel — different per channel (e.g. short web copy vs trade copy).
Value per locale + Value per channel — both (common for rich descriptions).

Example

On bari_bianco, Application might be a multi-select value containing Wall and Floor. That value is shared across channels. Description might have a separate value for Ecommerce / English (Australia).
