What is a family?

A family is the product template. It decides which attributes a product can have, which attribute is used as the label, and which attributes are required for completeness on each channel.

Family Tiles uses Product Name as the label attribute. Family Wall Cladding may use SKU. Products in each family only show the attributes attached to that family.

Family variants

A family can define family variants — one or two levels of variation using a variant axis such as colour, finish, or size. That structure is required before you can create product models and variant products in the grid.
